Coaches' Corner

USAV IMPACT Clinic

The first IMPACT Clinic for the upcoming season will be held December 13 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at Lansing Community College. IMPACT Certification is good for life, so get it done! All coaches are required to be IMPACT Certified. IMPACT Certification is an important first step for coaches, and includes information on professionalism, legal issues and USAV requirements and regulations. This training provides the first step in assuring your club has professional coaches, and is at least meeting minimum standards for coaches.

Payroll Paperwork

If you are a new HVVC, WAVA or DVC coach this year, you must download an I-9 form and mail it to Beth Yoskovich, along with the required pieces of identification. If you are a new coach or your tax withholding information has changed, please download a W-4 form, and send it to Beth Yoskovich.

2010 USAV Rules Interpretation Changes

There have been some fairly significant rule changes for the upcoming 2010 season, mostly involving net and center line contact.  Download a copy of the changes.

Tournament Results

Please download the the HVVC 2009 Tournament Results spreadsheet, fill it out after each tournament you play with the results from all of your matches, and send a copy back to Rody.  If you do well (first or second place in any AAU tournament bracket, good showing at any USAV tournament), please also send your finish to Nancy so she can post it on the Accomplishments section of the website.

IMPACT Certification

All coaches of USAV Junior teams need to have a current USAV Background Screening and complete the IMPACT Certification. You can check your certifications by going to your member home page on the Lakeshore Region website.  If you need assistance, contact the Region Office.  IMPACT Certification is good for life, so if you have completed your IMPACT, spread the word to any new coaches who may be starting to coach in 2009-10.

Online CAP Certification

USA Volleyball is now offering online training opportunities for USAV-CAP coaches through the ASEP Coaches Education Program. USAV-CAP coaches can enroll in Coaching Principles, Sport First Aid, and Coaching Youth Volleyball by visiting the ASEP website and selecting "USA Volleyball" from the list of partner organizations listed under "Learn About ASEP's Curricula and Courses".

USAV/High School Rules Comparison
